Baldur's Gate 3 has an Early Access launch in August 2020 (MAYBE). @BruderLoras4 years ago Halflings aren't Human-Dwarf hybrids, they're their own thing. 5e DND has two hybrid races, Half Elf and Half Orc. 70

@caspertrog10464 years ago Heads up: some of the info in this video is now outdated since the recent showcase they did. For instance, there will be 5 origin characters on release of the Early Access, but they've gone on record that they're working on adding more. They've also switched from entire teams taking turns, back to individuals taking turns based on their respective initiative, with some added functionality that basically let's you choose which of your characters acts first, provided they are in the same turn "bucket". ... 12

@auroraourania71614 years ago FYI, in addition to Halflings not being hybrids ( they’re literally lotr hobbits with a non copywritten name), 5e doesn’t have prestige classes, so they seem unlikely. 14

@Jasta854 years ago I would have honestly preferred pausable real time combat over turn based, simply because it allows minor, easily winnable fights, to go by quicker. But other than that no real complaints, larian definitely won't disappoint when it comes to delivering a quality RPG. ... 2

@zach19724 years ago 100% going custom character, I've made SO many 5e characters of the past half decade, now some of them are gonna come to life in this game. What I'm hoping is that we get the 12 PHB classes, Blood Hunter and Artificer, as for Sub-classes, just throw everything in from XGtE ... 1

I just hope the companion list expands, it's a bit small espically if you wanted to play a LG Pally type. They mostly seem bent on the other side of the alignment chart. 1

@Eliphas_4 years ago My guess is at launch they will mostly have only PHB races and classes. Also the level cap will be 10 (confirmed). Then with new dlc’s such as campaign expansions, they will increase the level cap further and other races, subclasses and maybe even the Artificer class from other books. ...

@NotThatBob4 years ago Looks great and I'm excited. Bioware created amazing story telling in their early games. I wish we can have more of that from Bioware. But seeing what Bioware is today, I'm so very glad they have nothing to do with this game. I do hope Larian (A wonderful studio) Makes this a unique fresh game. ... 8

I’ll probably be an elf, my favorite race, but I do hope they add gnomes, being a small pretty boy gnome illusionist appeals to me as well. ... 2

@st.helmet64184 years ago This will probably be covered in the new gameplay, but from looking at new stuff from the last couple of days, it seems that they have partly removed team initiative (or made it an option to toggle).
A hypothesized "house rule" approach where they let the same kind of creature share initiative, but otherwise individual rolls might be the case, that is just speculation though. ...

@Ragnarok66644 years ago It’s funny how Baldurs gate made more curious about D&D In general so fancy the lore videos, slightly skeptical about turn-bases gameplay but there seems to be allmost endless content/options(tiefling warlock 🥳)

@BrianBrown-vd1vv4 years ago It would be nice if they would give us the option for combat to be either one side goes, then the other, or each character goes on their own initiative. Hopefully Baldur's Gate 3 will be a great introduction to many new players into the dnd landscape and it would be nice if the game could have options to mirror gameplay as closely to the tabletop rules as possible. Either way I am sure the game will be amazing. ...

@Blargaha4 years ago I'm skeptical... To me, the choice to only have even fewer than the PhB classes in the game screams "DLC", and I don't like when a company telegraphs that they're gonna cut content and sell it to me later. ... 2

Because Larian is not all about my money, but rather a pleasant game experience, their games are actually worth all the money! Larian gets from me what EA and Bethesda desire. ... 1

@mylesdrake29494 years ago My biggest concern is how they're going to go about wizard schools and magic. Schools like Necromancy need their undead to stick around to be useful and to many video game versions has a very short temp summon. Same for higher level conjuers. I really hope they do a 1for1 for minionmancy. ...

@johndeighan24954 years ago I'm really hoping there are more than 6 possible companions. They don't all need to be playable characters, that's really not an issue. The wide choice of companions was one of the biggest strengths of BG 1 and 2 and possibly the biggest single reason for their legendary re-playability. It's not a deal breaker - I'm still going to get the game and probably play it to death - but it is a pretty big deal. Probably the one thing I'd recommend, if I had the ear of Larian Studios. ...

@MegaPIC14 years ago BG3 is based on D&D 5th edition, which has no prestiuege classes. i know this since i play and DM 5E campaigns. that said some of the Pestiege classes from past editions have been reskinned as sub classes so those of you joneing to play a Archane trickster Rogue or Arcane Archer ranger may have to wait a while but you will get the chance eventually.. ...

@bluelionsage994 years ago 5th Edition D&D doesn't have prestige classes. Did you mean architypes, circles, etc. The things you select as you progress that fine tune your class abilities?

Still might play it but in the far future.. I already have Witcher 3 still to play which I bought 2 yrs ago and KCD which a got this year. ...
