COVID-19 TEMPEST SETS CLIMATE OF UNCERTAINTY IN MEGHALAYA-SPIKE IN CORONA CASES ON JUNE 4TH 2020

Meghalaya witnessed the highest single-day spike of COVID-19 positive cases with a total number of eight fresh cases reported in the last 24 hours. Talking to reporters here today, Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman Warr informed that the active cases that were reported today include — three from East Khasi Hills and five from Ri-Bhoi district, taking the total number of active cases to 26. With this, the total number of confirmed cases in the state stands at 70 with 26 active cases, 43 recoveries and one death. Giving a break-up on the number of cases in each district, Dr. Warr informed that there are 11 active cases in East Khasi Hills (10 males and one female), 10 active cases in Ri-Bhoi (six males and four females), 02 active cases in South West Garo Hills (two males), 01 in East Jaiñtia Hills (one male) and 02 active cases in West Garo Hills (two males). When asked if it is a matter of serious concern with the spike in the number of positive cases, he said that the State, till June 24, had only 4 active cases and within these eight days, there is a jump of 22 cases.
