😲 We finally did it! Jordan put in his two weeks at his 8-5 office job so that we could pursue this RV Life on the road! While we won't be constantly traveling, we will still get to explore different parts of this country from the comforts of our fifth-wheel. We are leaving Montrose behind to head to our first workcamping position. But first, we stop and spend a few weeks with our family since we likely won't be seeing them for 6-8 months. 💥 Not long after leaving Montrose, we had to go up a steep mountain. It is a very manageable drive and one that we have done hundreds of times. This time, however, the truck decided to give us quite the scare. As we started the incline, the check engine light came on and a message of "Reduced Engine Power" was displayed. We quickly lost speed and were stuck at a crawl of 2 mph until we could find a pull off. Once we pulled off the road, we shut the truck off and began the basic look around and looking under the hood. Everything appeared ok so we let the truck cool down for a bit before starting it back up. We started it back up and the check engine light was still on but the "Reduced Engine Power" message was gone. After lots of prayers, we decided to continue on our journey. The truck ran like normal without any more issues the rest of the way. Once we got into town, we pulled the engine code so we could start diagnosing the problem. The code gave us a laundry list of possibilities. We decided we would reset the code and see if it happened again. 💥 Have you ever moochdocked? If not, you should try it. It is basically setting up camp in a friends or relatives driveway or property. Sometimes you can hook up to electric or water, and sometimes even sewer. We camp out in Jordan's parents driveway while we visit family, help them with some chores, and Jordan works for his Dad. While we wish it could have been a vacation, the reality is is that we still needed an income for us to stay there a few weeks. Luckily, Jordan's Dad had plenty of projects and work that he was willing to pay Jordan to do. 💥 Jordan got to do some of his favorite work, running the skidsteer and tractor. If you have never done any sort of grading dirt work, it is not as easy as the professionals make it look. It took several hours of shooting the grade with the transom and then adding or taking away dirt in certain spots to get the grade they are looking for. In this case, rain water would run straight into the new pole barn. To keep this from happening we had to direct the water around the barn but still make the driveway functional and drivable. 💥 We have also been working hard to update our blog page so be sure to head over to www.thecamperhouse.com to check it out!
